Sonic Adventure 2 Battle by Link584
The last great Sonic game according to Link584? Well, sorta. Take a look inside what I feel is one of the best Sonic games of all time. I review the GameCube version, and do not take a look at the Chao garden aspect of the game.
I do not mention it below, but you play the game as 6 different characters, each with unique levels.
Story
“After discovering the existence of a secret weapon mentioned in the diary of his grandfather, Gerald Robotnik, Dr. Eggman infiltrates a high-security G.U.N. facility in search of it. This "weapon," a black hedgehog named Shadow who claims that he is the "Ultimate Life Form," offers to help Eggman take over the world, telling the scientist to rendezvous with him at the abandoned Space Colony ARK with more Chaos Emeralds. Shadow proceeds in stealing one of the emeralds, and G.U.N. officials mistake him for Sonic.” - Wikipedia

Design
This is an old game for the Nintendo Gamecube, going back to around the year 2001. The game focuses on platforming, collecting rings, and improving your score for each level. With this in mind, the game isn’t meant to look extremely beautiful, and reminds us of the couple years before with games such as Banjo Kazooie. Graphics are not a distraction by any means, but the camera can get in your way sometimes in tighter scenarios. These moments are brief and can easily be overlooked.
Gameplay / Controls
There are two storylines you can play as, Good or Evil, which at the time was a fresh new experience. No mater what way you played through, they reveal the true path once you complete both sides, that leads to a very satisfying end. You can also revisit any level you’ve completed at any time. The interesting thing about each level is that there are 5 total missions in each one. They are optional to the story, but to really get the most out of your experience you can easily make your game last 5 times longer, and not feel cheap.
The reason I say it’s not cheap is because while the level design is the same in each mission, they give you new objectives, and you also get a grade on how you did ranging from E to A. With over 100 different A rankings to get, as well as Medals from other various tasks, you can be at this for a long time. Along the way will unlock multiplayer items which sadly don’t feel that rewarding. The ultimate reward is when you unlock all the possible A Ranks and you unlock a secret level, which for it’s time the level was an amazing reward. A 3D playable version of Green Hill Zone.

Music
The thing about the music in this game is that it’s got a mix from regular background music to actual songs created for the game. It’s a fun experience because the songs actually fit the level you are in, and levels go by fast so they don’t become repetitive. Don’t be surprised if you actually start learning the really enjoying the song from the first level City Escape outside of actual game time.

Presentation
The whole game put together is really well done, and a fun experience if you take the time to do the challenges. If you just play through expecting to be done in 5 hours and then put it away after then this game isn’t for you. Be prepared to do all the challenges in the game and not receive achievements for it and prove your gaming skills to yourself. It’s a very hard task and once you finish it, you will feel very happy with that you’ve done. The storyline is also fun, and one of the best endings for a Sonic game period, and they should have left it alone and not touched on it again in the newer games.

Conclusion
The final word is this. If you play it 100% and enjoy platforming and improving your skills, then you’ll enjoy it. For years I considered this the last good Sonic game, and I consider it one of the best period. This game will test your limits, and is very fun. I give this game 4 out of 5.
